      This year, Proposition 3 allows voters to weigh in on the right of public employees to request that their membership dues for their organizations be deducted from their paychecks. It says, “Texas should prohibit governmental entities from collecting dues for labor unions through deductions from public employee paychecks.” The wording is both confusing and misleading to voters.     Our monthly magazine, The Shield, has kept DPA members informed for more than 30 years.sheild

    The Dallas Police Association’s first official publication, The Poll, was printed in September 1961. The publication’s name later changed to the Dallas Police Association News in 1966.

    The Dallas Police Association News received a facelift in February 1983, when it was changed from newsletter format to newspaper and its name was changed to its current title, The Shield.
