About Cops' Cop

The Cops’ Cop Award program was developed in 1994 by the DPA to honor Dallas’ finest for their outstanding service to the community, both on and off duty. This monthly award is given to officers who have displayed the integrity, skill and talent that make them some of the best law enforcement personnel in the city.

Being named a monthly Cops’ Cop is a true honor because fellow officers, who see firsthand how these men and women in blue truly make a difference in the community, conduct the nomination and selection process. Every year, the twelve monthly winners are recognized at our prestigious Cops’ Cop Banquet, where one is selected as Cops’ Cop for that year.

Reserve Officer Of The Year

In an effort to recognize those Dallas Police Reserve Officers who volunteer their personal time to assist the Dallas Police Department in the varied functions of law enforcement, the DPA recognizes a Dallas Police Reserve Officer (regardless of reserve rank) who is currently a member of the Dallas Police Association, for their continued, outstanding volunteer service to their community and/or to the Dallas Police Association. The nomination is made by any Dallas Police Officer during October each year. The award is presented during the annual Cops’ Cop Awards Ceremony.

Who Is Andy Davis

Dallas Police Sergeant Andrew (Andy) H. Davis #4624 joined the Dallas Police Department in December 1981. He rose to the rank of Police Sergeant and retired from the Dallas Police Department in November 2007, suffering from terminal cancer. He passed away in November 2007. Sergeant Davis always displayed a concern for the welfare of his subordinates, constantly mentoring them and leading them by example in accomplishing the mission of the Dallas Police Department. The Sergeant Andy Davis Supervisor of the Year Award is awarded by the Dallas Police Association to recognize sworn Dallas Police Supervisors, who are members of the Dallas Police Association who perform their duties and exhibit the example and spirit of Sgt.
